This album is a combination of songs from two split-recordings:

tracks 1-4 --> side A of the split-LP *half asleep/SRX* (Humpty Dumpty records & Le Bonheur medias, 2007)
tracks 5-9 --> side B of the split-cassette tape *loobke/half asleep* (Matamore Recordings, 2005)

All songs by valérie leclercq.
Track 9 is built around Buell Kazee's 1928 rendition of the song "the railroad boy" (made famous by its inclusion in Harry Smith's Anthology of American Folk Music in 1952). The original version can be listened to here: archive.org/details/Butcher

About the half asleep/SRX split-LP:

“Half Asleep is the nom de plume of Belgian Valerie Leclercq (with the help of her sister Oriane) and this is very fine intimate songwriting with folky undertones that seems to lie halfway between Kitchen Cynics and Empress. Lovely instrumentation - guitar, harmonium - and Valerie has a gorgeous weary alto that occasionally goes all multi-layered Linda Perhacs style. SRX is Sandra Reignoux of France and her home-recorded tunes (guitar, whistling, layered vocals) have a wonderful air of naivety similar to recent releases by Finnish artists Anne Kallio or Rokkirhyma but with an air of underlying melancholy. Gorgeous sleeve-art too.” (www.apexonline.com)

About The Railroad Boy:
